More Study Opportunities for Vietnamese Semiconductor Students in South Korea

After completing one year of specialized training in Vietnam, students can participate in a one-year internship at South Korean companies.

On February 29, BTEC FPT College of the United Kingdom held a signing ceremony for a cooperative internship program with IB Tech, a company with extensive experience in the semiconductor manufacturing and supply sector in South Korea. The agreement aims to create numerous employment and study-abroad opportunities for Vietnamese students in semiconductor technology.

According to the agreement, the two parties will develop two internship programs specifically for BTEC FPT students in Semiconductor Technology, including a student exchange internship program and a post-graduate joint training program. Specifically, Vietnamese students have the opportunity to join the student exchange internship program. After completing one year of specialized training in Vietnam, BTEC FPT students may undertake a one-year internship at South Korean companies. Additionally, upon graduation, students can continue their studies at a university or graduate school in South Korea, combining work and income. BTEC FPT’s semiconductor technology program is set to recruit its first intake in February 2024, with significant tuition discounts and scholarships covering up to 70% of tuition.

This partnership is part of the effort to elevate training programs through connections with global technology corporations and educational institutions with extensive experience in the semiconductor industry.

Following the BTEC FPT leadership and faculty’s visit to Doowon University and IB Tech’s factory in South Korea in early February 2024, both sides agreed to establish a collaborative training program for semiconductor technology talent. The goal is to provide employment opportunities for Vietnamese students and attract high-quality international talent in this field.

Founded in 2006, IB Tech is a subsidiary of SEHYUN Electronics, one of South Korea’s largest PCB testing companies and a leading company in BGA electronic board packaging with over 30 years in the industry. SEHYUN Electronics’ major clients include Samsung, Apple, and IB Tech, a partner of Samsung Electronics-Mechanics, which inspects BGA packaging and Flip Chip cores.
